Remember Palestine

Nakba Day, otherwise known as the Palestinian Catastrophe, is commemorated around the world on May 15, the day after the Gregorian calendar date for the Israeli regime’s so-called independence.
To mark this special day in the history of the Occupied Palestine, Tehran Times will be hosting an online event titled “Remember Palestine.”

Event Categories

The event will be held in two main categories. The applicants register in our website first, and then decide to submit written or multimedia submissions.
Multimedia submissions are divided into three sub-categories: posters, cartoons, video comments.
Written submissions are divided into two sub-categories: blogging, direct submission to our website.

Submission topics

Palestine’s History:
In this category, applicants may examine the history of the occupation, challenging the legality of the Israelis’ claims about their occupation.
In this category, applicants may examine various types of resistance, from the popular intifadas by the Palestinians, or demonstrations held in support of Palestine around the world, to institutional and organizational resistance.
Human Rights and Palestine:
In this category, the applicants may examine various types of violation of human rights by the Israeli regime, from abusing women and children, to brutal atrocities. They may also compare the Zionist regime with the characteristics of apartheid.
Role of Global Community in Solving the Palestinian Crisis:
In this category, the applicants may come up with various suggestions done through investigative research, for independent NGOs supporting Palestine, to various UN bodies. We are looking to examine the reasons the suggestions made in the past have failed, in order to diagnose the problems and offer new initiatives.
In this category, the applicants may write their own original memoirs regarding the resistance in Palestine, or translate or rewrite the original memoirs which may exist in Arabic. If you have participated in a rally supporting Palestine, or are a Palestinian PoW, this is your chance to share your story with the world.
Terms and conditions

For multimedia submissions:

  • Posters and cartoons’ dimensions: 16:9, 9:16, or 1:1
  • Posters and cartoons’ desired resolution: For 16:9 or 9:16 submissions, 1920:1080 resolution is approved. For 1:1 submissions, 1080:1080 resolution is approved.
  • Video comments: Video comments may not be less than 60 seconds, and may not exceed 140 seconds. They must be made in 16:9 dimensions, and must only be submitted with the 1920:1080 resolution.
  • Photos: Photos must be taken by the applicants themselves only. Photos that are taken by others shall not be submitted!
  • NOTE: Posters, cartoons, and video comments may not exceed 100 MB. All multimedia submissions must include a referencing document in PDF format that includes the sourcing for all and any type of content used, from music, to pictures and video footage.

For written submissions:

  • Blogs: Blogs may be created within formats such as Blogger, Tumblr, WordPress, etc. They should contain -at the very least- five posts. Each blog contents must not be lower than 250 words.
  • Non-political essays: Content should be approximately or over 700 Words. The article should have sub-headings. No plagiarism.
  • Political essays may not exceed 1500 words.
  • NOTE: Essays without reference will be rejected immediately.
